                       SECOND ARREST MADE IN THEFT SCHEME            

 

On August 17, 2017, a second arrest was made in Rocksprings in connection to a scheme that was played out over a year at the Family Dollar on SH 55 S. Samuel “Sammy Flores (44)  of Rocksprings Texas was arrested for Theft 750.00- 2500.00 and was released on a $6000.00 Surety bond.

Cynthia Russo Hernandez (39) was an employee at the store and was acting as though she was scanning the items as her husband Flores was receiving the stolen goods. When several hundred dollars’ worth of items were run through the scanner only a couple of items were charged to his card thus scamming the corporation from the benefits of the sale.

Hernandez was indicted for theft on June 5, 2017, was arrested and immediately posted a $7500.00 Surety bond. When Hernandez was interviewed, she admitted in participating in thefts from the store about 50 times in less than a year, totaling several thousand dollars’ worth of merchandise.

The second arrest came after The Edwards County Sheriff’s Office viewed the tape several times and clearly saw that there was another actor in the scheme. There are other suspects that are rumored to have participated and the investigation will continue in an attempt to expose any other suspects.

Theft 750.00-2500.00 is a Class A Misdemeanor that has a maximum penalty of one year in jail and/or a $4000.00 fine.
