LOCAL MAN ARRESTED FOR SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION VIOLATIONS

On September 13, 2017, The Edwards County Sheriff’s Office was notified that Joel Perez Ortiz (31) had not been following the guidelines of status changes that were established as part of his Sex Offender Registration.   

Ortiz is on Parole for Sexual Assault of a Child (15 years old female) and had not reported that he had job changes, changes in vehicles that he uses and was observed by an Edwards County Deputy drinking alcohol with underage children present.

The Parole Office in Del Rio Texas immediately violated his parole. Ortiz turned himself in to Sheriff Elliott on September 15, 2017 without incident.

Additional charges will be filed on Ortiz for failure to comply with Sex Offender Registration in the immediate future. Ortiz remains in The Edwards County Detention Center without bond.

Ortiz could be facing additional prison time if convicted.
